Historical Album Cover

For this project, two album covers were created based on modern and postmodern graphic design. The artist is Aurora, a Norwegian singer and songwriter best known for her song from Frozen II's, 'Into the Unknown’.The modern art movement chosen for this project is cubism and the second album cover is based on the postmodern movement of psychedelic artwork that became popular in the 1960s.

This cover was made with the complimentary colours of yellow and purple with accents of blue and orange. This colour palette is combined in a way to make it look jarring to the viewer. The test on the back shows the list of album songs in the shape of a butterfly. This both represents the butterfly motif of her album concert and is indicative of the psychedelic art of the 1960s.

This cover was made in the synthetic cubism style of art inspired by tribal art and the physiology of primitivism. The artist Aurora has been abstracted into simple shapes and lines with accents of yellow. The typography is also abstracted and simplified shapes based on the La fin Monde (The End of the World) by Fernand Léger.
